Beta Reading (without AI!)

For our beta reading service, we charge £0.001 per word. So, for example, a novel of 70,000 words would cost £70 for a beta read (incl. £25 deposit, please scroll for more info.).

Our beta reading report will include either detailed responses to the questions you send us – or, if no specific questions are sent, we will provide in-depth feedback on our overall impression of your manuscript, a storyline assessment, and editorial suggestions.

We never use AI to assess your manuscript – we rely solely on our own editorial experience and subjective reader impressions to develop a comprehensive report of your book.

Turnaround times will depend on our schedule at the time of booking.

Please note: A non-refundable deposit of £25, for projects starting at 25,000 words, is to be paid upfront before we can begin to read through your manuscript. A non-refundable deposit of £10 is required for projects from 10,000 words to 24,999 words. There is no deposit required for projects up to 9,999 words.

At this time, we cannot accept manuscripts over 100,000 words. Sorry!

** Earn a 50% discount for booking your second beta reading project with us! ** (Example: 1st Project of 70k words = £25 deposit + £45 final payment for total of £70. Subsequent 2nd Project of 70k words = £25 deposit + £10 final payment for total of £35.)

Copywriting & Content Writing (without AI!)

Content is essential for all types of businesses to thrive. However, writing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Luckily for you, here at Horseshoe Books, we’re experienced at working on a wide range of copy, from articles and blog posts to social media copy and product descriptions.

For our copywriting & content writing service, we charge £0.10 per word and £25 per hour for research. You would also be expected to provide a detailed brief and any TOV documentation, to make sure our work aligns with your brand’s unique voice. For instance, a 500-word blog post that requires two hours of research would cost approximately £100.

We’re happy to revise the copy twice, free of charge – though we will charge an hourly rate of £35 to edit or rewrite content beyond this.

We will not, however, use AI software to create or edit the content we write for you.

Book Reviews (without AI!)

As authors, we understand how challenging it can be to get book reviews – even though they’re so important for helping readers discover your story. Therefore, we’d be happy to review your book for free!

All we ask is that you send us a free copy of your book (in eBook or paperback format), please. We’ll then let you know an approximate timeframe as to when you should expect to receive our honest review.

Once we have reviewed your book, you’re free to publish our review however you wish!

Our favourite genres are cosy mystery, rom-com, sci-fi, fantasy, and historical fiction.

Please note: You can trust that we will never use AI to review your book – every book will be read the natural way; with our human eyes, imaginations, and life experiences influencing our impression of your story from a reader’s perspective.
